Chef Nora is serving up a leveled-up version of the quintessential holiday dinner, without any of the work. Baked ham is roasted until tender and juicy, drizzled with a caramelized buttery, spiced honey glaze, and served with a side of grilled pineapple. Paired with plush potato dinner rolls and a side of sautéed haricots verts, it’s everything you want in a holiday dinner and more—all that’s missing is a festive table setting.

Where to begin, I guess that would be the labor-intensive multiple steps for this meal. I have never encountered such a convoluted mess instruction wise before from Cook Unity. I used the oven cooking method. First, I had to microwave the glaze. Next, I had to remove the ham from the Cook Unity container it came in and place it in an oven safe dish, drizzle half the glaze over the ham, cover with foil and heat in the oven for 8-10 minutes. The instructions say to heat the verts and pineapple in the oven for 5 minutes. So while these are cooking the ham is getting cold, or should I have been a mind reader and added them to the ham and cooked them together for the 5 minutes, which I felt would dry out the ham so I heated the verts and pineapple separately but the verts came out raw and not even heated through. I thought Cook Unity meals were cooked and we were only reheating them. Then the instructions say to microwave the buns for 1 minute and assemble the sliders. Wait What?! I thought I was buying a ham dinner, not sliders. The instructions never mention what to do with the other half of the glaze. Now compare the instructions for the fast instructions. Again, we microwave the glaze then drizzle the ham with all the glaze and microwave the ham for 1 minute. Now we are supposed to add the verts and pineapple back to the tray, no mention of removing them prior to this, and microwave for 30 seconds. The next line states to microwave the buns for 10 seconds. Right under this are instructions to microwave the buns for 15-20 seconds. So now I have the choice of microwaving the buns for 1 minute from the chef instructions, or 10 seconds, or contradictory instructions of 15-20 seconds. Someone get this chef a proofreader for her instructions please! I am sure any adult could muddle through this hot mess. I buy Cook Unity meals for their ease of preparation and quality. This had neither. With the contradictory and poorly written instructions this just wasn’t worth the effort, juggling the food switching in and out of the oven or microwave, and ending up with an expensive subpar meal. I have ordered a few meals from this chef and I will avoid ordering from her in the future.
