This Chinese-style cucumber salad is light, refreshing, and perfect for the summer. It’s also packed with flavor thanks to a zingy dressing featuring garlic, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, and chili flakes. This is the ideal side dish to accompany fish, noodles, or rich grilled meats like steak or pork, but it also makes for the perfect little snack any time of day.
Chefs Wanting Zhang and Yong Zhao grew up in Northern China, met in college in Beijing, and went to Yale for graduate school. Zhang and Yong shared a common love for the food they grew up with and missed eating authentic and healthy Northern Chinese food every day. They loved the diverse flavors of their home so much that they opened the first Junzi Kitchen in New Haven in 2015 to share their favorite dishes with their classmates and community. Since then Junzi Kitchen has been an institution beloved by Chinese and non-Chinese diners alike, eventually opening in New York City as one of the highest reviewed Chinese restaurants. Through CookUnity, they're excited to share those healthy and delicious traditional recipes with you.
