Junzi Kitchen's griddled sesame tofu is an all-time favorite of their customers—and we're talking vegans, meat lovers, and everyone in between. This dish is all about the sauce; an umami-packed sesame sauce packs sweet and savory flavors just a little kick of spice. The sauce helps give tender tofu a delicious crust when griddled, and sides of simply sautéed bok choy and nutty brown rice make the dish complete.

Love the brown rice and the sauce. The tofu would be better deep fried also the bok choy comes out a bit slimy.

It would be easier to eat with the bok choy chopped up a bit more or a different veggie

Wonderfully large portion: enough to share! Sauce was flavorful, but extremely salty.

Tasted the sauce it was very salty and soy based to me. I sautéed veggie and tofu in sesame oil, added a tablespoon of peanut butter and water to sauce tossed it all with honey roasted peanuts.

Portion size was good, I really liked the tofu and the rice. The sauce was ok, I really tasted more soy than sesame, though.
Chefs Wanting Zhang and Yong Zhao grew up in Northern China, met in college in Beijing, and went to Yale for graduate school. Zhang and Yong shared a common love for the food they grew up with and missed eating authentic and healthy Northern Chinese food every day. They loved the diverse flavors of their home so much that they opened the first Junzi Kitchen in New Haven in 2015 to share their favorite dishes with their classmates and community. Since then Junzi Kitchen has been an institution beloved by Chinese and non-Chinese diners alike, eventually opening in New York City as one of the highest reviewed Chinese restaurants. Through CookUnity, they're excited to share those healthy and delicious traditional recipes with you.
