‘Pasticho’ Venezuelan Lasagna

by Andres Mendez

View Profile

Pasticho is Venezuela’s answer to lasagna, a dish with Italian roots reimagined through local tradition and festive flair. This version layers tender pasta sheets with ground beef simmered in garlic, onion, bell pepper, and a slow-cooked tomato sauce. Smoked ham is tucked between the layers for added richness, and the whole thing is bound with a creamy béchamel made from milk, butter, mozzarella, and cheddar, then baked until golden and bubbling.
