About
Chef Nahika Hillery comes from a family of avid cooks - growing up she learned how to prepare traditional West Indian food while observing and practicing with several of her family members, especially her mother. Nahika came to love the flavor profiles of her home: full of spices, with balanced seasoning, and influences from a number of cuisines types and styles, including Hatian and Creole. She decided to turn these early experiences with food into something more than cooking with and for friends and family at home. With a combined passion for cooking, cultural pride, and entrepreneurial spirit, Chef Nahika opened the first Haitian food truck in Austin, Texas in 2017. Through Kreyòl Korner - Kreyòl is the native language spoken in Haiti - she has been able to share her beloved culture and food with people visiting from all over the world. From a winning feature on The Food Network to critical acclaim in her new hometown of Austin, Chef Nahika can’t wait to share her story with you through her delicious food.

Stewed Epis Chicken & Okra
This was one of my favourite dishes so far. The two chefs cooking Haitian food are killing it! Chef knocked it out of the park—the flavours, textures, spices…and the fact that I ate this on the 6th night says volumes about her skill. It tasted so fresh and everything was cooked absolutely perfectly. If you think you don’t like okra, then nobody has made it for you properly. 10/10 no notes, just praise. More of this please!

Curry Chicken & Chickpeas
A so so meal. Not one of their best but I've had much worse from Cook Unity too. The curry was a bit bland, the potatoes were kind of mushy ad the kale was just not good.

Creamy Rasta Pasta with Jerk Shrimp
It’s got great flavor, the shrimp are especially well seasoned. It’s just really dry, so the noodles can be somewhat bland, more sauce would help.

Haitian Legume (Epis-Marinated Beef & Vegetables)
Unexpectedly good!

Stewed Epis Chicken & Okra
The rice and beans were great. I liked the char on the chicken. But the okra were mostly woody and tough and end pieces

Fiery Turkey-Stuffed Poblano Pepper
Extremely tasty, healthy, and an all round meal - I actually feel quite satisfied after eating this. The avocado cream is icing on the cake. Please keep making this!

Okap Party Spicy BBQ Chicken
Superb tasting as well as visually appealing meal. It's on the slightly sweeter side, which I love. The chicken has a little gravy action going on too - so good.
